Sorry guys! Been a pretty busy week here. I'm working on a few deadlines, have some custom orders, and lots of ideas floating in my head. And to top it all off, my dog has been having his "anxiety attacks" again, so I haven't been getting my housework done or even sleeping much the last few days...instead I have been babysitting the dog. He's doing better today, so I hope to get a few things done and to get closer to being caught up on my To-Do list.
Hope you are all enjoying your National Crochet Month! If you send me some pictures of anything you made from one of my designs, I'll be happy to post them here on my blog! Send them to jaybird [at] acsol [dot] net.
Have a great day!

Well, another week down. I didn't try very hard this week...actually I didn't try at all. Guess I'm just happy that the scale went back down instead of up!
I've had a lot going on lately in my life and "dieting and exercise" are not on the top of my priority list right now. I haven't totally given up on it, but it is not my main focus. But, I would still really like to be in a size 10 jeans by my birthday in April though, LOL!
So, I'll trudge through another week and see what happens. I really need to try harder on my exercises....heck, it's only 20-30 minutes a few days a week!! I really should be able to do that!! And as long as there is not a lot of junk food or soda in the house, I can easily control what I eat! Wish me luck and I'll let you know how next week goes.
Oh....and BTW, I FINALLY managed to get my hair cut this week! LOL!! It was only my reward from week 2 or 3! LOL!!
Well, if you are getting married this year, this Etsy Twitter Team Shop of the Week is THE place to shop! Mikiye Creations has some fabulous jewels and hair accessories for your special day! They are absolutely stunning....beautiful....amazing!!
So, since I am already married, I looked around for my favorite item that I could wear any day and came across these pretty vintage inspired earrings! They would look so pretty with my jeans and maybe a cute crocheted tank in cream! And they are on sale too!!! With free shipping.....hmmmmmm!!!!
As usual, be sure to read her interview on the Etsy Twitter Team Blog! Plus, search "#etsytwitter" on twitter and "etsytwitter team" on etsy.
Robyn Chachula, AMAZING crochet designer and author of the CrochetByFaye Blog, has started something for National Crochet Month. In this POST she tells of different ways that anyone can help support their favorite designers! It's a great read and when you have the time, I highly recommend it!
I am going to follow her lead today and tell you about a new designer I have the pleasure of mentoring thorough the CGOA's Mentoring Program.
Deja Jetmir has a wonderful collection of independently published patterns in her etsy shop: JacquiJCrochet. I've enjoyed making a number of her Plethora of Baby Booties Pattern for my charity group. The pattern is well written and easy to follow and she offers many fun options for finishing the booties to give them a unique look!
Here is a bunch of my favorite patterns that she has available in her shop! Let's show her some love and be sure to adopt a designer of your own sometime this month!

It's here! It's here!! My favorite month of the year....well...kinda, LOL!! And I'm ready to celebrate!! I've marked all my crochet patterns down 25% and they will stay this price until April! You can easily shop for them all here:
etsy ravelry artfire
Plus, I hope to get at least one FREE pattern finished this month and maybe a few more for sale. We'll just have to see how much time I can find to work on them!
Also, don't forget that if you live in the Grand Junction, Colorado, area....I offer crochet lessons! Private or small groups! Contact me for more details if you want to learn or brush up on your crocheting!

Well, it finally happened. I gained weight. Call it PMS or just being lazy, but it happened. But, I am happy! I am the healthiest I have been in a long time!! I am happy at this weight. YES, I would like to loose a little more, but it's not that important. I probably won't be as strict on myself as I have been in the past. I need to enjoy life and eat....I love food! LOL!! Plus, I LOOK GREAT!! My amazing hubby comments on it all the time! My clothes don't fit, I can run with the dog, and besides some emotional exhaustion, I have a lot more energy!
March will bring some warmer weather. I hope to start my nightly walks again really soon. That will help burn calories. I will continue exercising with my Wii Active 4 times a week and I will continue to keep an eye on my calorie intake, which I just adjusted to 1480 a day.
Thanks for all of your support through this adventure! I will continue to keep you all updated! Have a great weekend!
I finally got around to stocking my Artfire shop with all my crochet patterns!
To celebrate, all my patterns in my Artfire shop ONLY are 20% off!!! TODAY ONLY! Get them while you can!!

All of my patterns are now available in my Ravelry Shop, including the free ones. It is still under construction, but I hope to have everything finished by the end of the week. I think I may also put links to all of my FREE patterns here on my blog for easy access. You can still purchase my patterns and finished items in my etsy shop too, but the patterns on my website have been disabled.
If you are trying to contact me via my sales[at]jaybird-designs.com email address I apologize, it hasn't been working. Please try again at jaybird[at]acsol.net. Thanks!
...and I am starting to make plans!
March is National Crochet Month and I need to get moving on what I want to do to support my favorite craft!! I want to offer a FREE crochet pattern, but don't know what you would all like to make this year! Baby items? Hats? Wraps/Shawls? Would you be interested in a crochet-a-long? I've never held one before, but would be willing to try! How about a class for locals? Let me know in your comments what you would like to see from Jaybird Designs this March! I'd love to hear your ideas and thoughts!
Happy crocheting!

Well, I finally did it. I broke the 150lb mark! JUST BARELY! I enjoyed Valentine's Day weekend a little too much and really didn't think I'd loose anything this week. But I did. And I haven't been this small in over 10 years!! I am hoping to get my husband to take some pictures this weekend so I can share with you. I probably don't look that much different, but boy, do I feel smaller! I feel better, healthier! It's wonderful!! And to celebrate, I am hitting Victoria's Secret this afternoon and treating myself to some new undies and bras! I need them...why, oh why, are the boobs the first thing to go?? LOL!!
I've finally gotten into a little groove. Work out on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays. Clean house on Wednesdays and enjoy my weekends with my family. I usually don't count calories on weekends, but I try to eat as healthy as possible. Next week I plan on starting another 30 day challenge on the Wii Active and I hope to start my evening walks again in a week or two....just waiting for it to warm up a bit.
My goal is to get to 145lbs so that I can fluctuate between it and 150. I do need to tone up the butt and thighs a little more too. If I can do that, I think I may even be able to go down to a size 10 jeans! OMG!! That would be amazing!
I think my husband is going to be stuck buying me a whole new wardrobe in April for my birthday! Hehehehe!!!
A friend of mine asked me to crochet a hat for her horse, LOL!! We had a nasty cold spell here this winter and she was afraid that his ears would get frostbitten. After weeks of delays and lots of measurements, I finally got it to her this week. It could use some modifications, but I think Hawks really likes his new "hat!" LOL!!
Late again, sorry! But it was a good week. I'm down to 150.6 lbs and hope to finally be under 150 next week!! Whoo hoo!!
And I even finished my first 30 day challenge on the Wii Active. Now I need to decide if I want to start another one or just do some workouts on my own for a while.
Since I started taking my measurements I've lost 1.5" in my waist, another 1.5" in my hips, and 1" in my thighs. Not too bad! :-)
One thing I plan on starting this week is to keep track of my fiber intake. Dr Oz suggests that the average woman get 21 grams a day.

This week I released another pattern in the Portrait Series, the Daydreamer Hat!! It's such a sweet hat featuring a box-style construction, super soft yarn, and fun little tassles!! It works up quickly and will make a wonderful addition to your growing collection of portrait props!
You can find it in my etsy shop or on Ravelry!

Another pound down this week for a total of 7. Not much more to report. Didn't exercise as much as I wanted and even though I kept my calories down, I didn't eat very healthily. Need to work on that for next week.
It's amazing how much smaller I feel. My sweet hubby is only about 120lbs soaking wet, so I always felt like Godzilla around him. Now he can actually wrap his arms all around my waist and touch the elbow of his other arm! I can't explain how good that makes me feel. :-) I will always be a little taller than him...nothing I can do about that...but now I don't feel like as much of a freak when we are together in public. Being 50-60 pounds heavier than him always made me feel that way. Now...to just keep myself around this size/weight!!
Boy, has this been difficult to keep a secret!! I was thrilled last month when I found out that my Tulip Baby Set would be on the cover of the April 2010 edition of Crochet World Magazine!!! Finally, yesterday, the preview came up on the Crochet World Website! This has got to be one of my favorite designs!! Yes, it is a lot of work to make...but it is absolutely beautiful!! I can only imagine the look on the face of the new mom-to-be when they get this as a gift! It is sure to be treasured and cherished for years to come!BTW, this set was inspired by my wonderful CGOA mentor, Dee! She taught me how to make the wonderful little tulips and I thought it was just the neatest technique! So, join me in dancing around the house today while I clean and do laundry!

I've just released the newest pattern in the Portrait Series...The Angel Cloud Cocoon! Right now you can purchase it in my Etsy shop or on Ravelry!
Special thanks to Robin Long Photography and JES Photography for the amazing newborn photos .DisclaimerAlthough extremely cute, this cocoon is not designed for general use and an infant should not beleft unsupervised in any way while using it.

Sorry I'm a day late! But it was a good week for weight loss! I managed to loose another 1.8lbs to bring my total to 6 lbs!! I'm about half way to my goal in only 4 weeks!
It was also a measurement week, so in 2 weeks I have lost another 3/4" in my hips, 1" in my thighs, and 1/4" in my bicep! I'm Happy!
Oh, and did I mention that my new size 12 jeans are starting to get a little loose on me??? Hehehehe!!
Have a great weekend everyone!
I'm not sure what it is, but I love vintage items! Jewelry and clothing especially! My husband knows that whenever he is watching Antiques Road Show on PBS, that is an amazing piece of vintage shows up, he needs to call me in there immediately! LOL!! So lately I've been doing a little "shopping" on etsy....here are some of my favorites!
MyFitnessPal - Free Calorie Counter
Well, I managed to loose 1.6 lbs this week for a total of 4.2 lbs! I really close to my next goal...when I hit below 155 I will get my hair done!
I've adjusted my diet again...this time I am trying a little more calories...1350. I had such a hard time staying under 1200 and I seemed to do a little better with the added leeway. I also boosted my exercising again...shooting for about 40 minutes each time I work out with the Wii Active. I really like the workouts...but some of the lunges really kill my knees. I usually have to adjust those ones. Plus I've been working a lot more on my arms....anticipation of tank top weather!!!
I only take my measurements every other week, so nothing to report this week. But boy, do I feel smaller! Even when shaving my legs I look down and am amazed and the difference in size!! Puts a huge smile on my face!!
Have a great weekend!
I am truly amazed at all the beautiful handmade jewelry I find on etsy. And this week's featured shop is no exception! Sweetwater Inspirations has some beautiful items in her shop! I live the sweet simplicity of these Garnet Tears earrings! But there are so many more items that I love too! It was hard to choose just one as my favorite!!
As usual, be sure to read her interview on the Etsy Twitter Team Blog. Also, search "etsytwitter team" on etsy and "#etsytwitter" on twitter for more stunning items from this awesome street team!
One of my favorite customers just sent me these pictures of her darling little girl in a hat she made with my Rolled Brim Hat Pattern!! Isn't she adorable!! Thank you so much for sharing Charlene!! And be sure to check out Charlene's site!!
